Yes, this dryer is heated with the option to turn the heat off. If you are looking for the non-heated version, you would want to purchase the XL-SB-ECO. The "ECO" in the model number is what indicates it having no heating element. Please note, while the regular XL-SB (or any regular XLerator) has the option to turn the heat off, the "ECO" models do not have the option to turn the heat on or add a heating element later.
